Program Description
Description
During the 1800s, TV, internet and many of the organized past times we take for granted did not exist. So, what did the average citizen do for fun and entertainment? They picked a local fire department (like we choose pro sports teams today) to cheer on at fire scenes! They also picked their favorite firefighter to cheer on, and the most courageous, dedicated and the most famous of all was Harry Howard. Join Lauryn Czyzewski, Assistant Curator at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting in Hudson, New York, to explore who Harry Howard was, what his many accomplishments were and why we are still talking about him today.
Program is sponsored by the Historical Society of East Greenbush.
