Program Description

Description

Successful gardening requires knowing weeds as much as knowing flowers. Come spring, it can be hard to decide whether to pull a sprouting plant or let it grow.  Throughout the rest of the gardening season, you need to be on the lookout for common weeds to remove them quickly and properly to make certain they don’t spread.  This presentation takes a “Not in My Garden!” look at the most common weeds and how to detect, deter, and destroy them!  When it comes to weeds, an ounce of prevention is definitely worth a pound of cure.

Presented by Christine Saplin. After retiring as Education Director for NYSTI, Christine became a Master Gardener in 2012. She has enjoyed working in the gardens at Schuyler Mansion, the Friendship Garden in Albany as well as providing gardening activities to children at Trinity Alliance. With the help of fellow Master Gardeners, Christine has created a Children’s Garden area at CCE and the Summer Gardening Adventure which is offered through the 4H program.

The Garden Club program begins at 6:00. The Club meets following the program; all are welcome to attend.
