Description

The art work in the cases was created by kindergarten through eighth grade art students from Woodland Hill Montessori School in East Greenbush. In addition to creativity and self-expression, art serves as a powerful educational tool that develops crucial skills like problem solving, critical thinking, and innovation. Students in kindergarten and the lower grades explored the art of Impressionist painter Claude Monet and created three dimensional frogs from paper and lily pads from clay. Upper elementary students studied the Pop artist Robin Antar before sculpting fun clay pizza slices. Middle school students reviewed the color theory concepts value and contrast while painting and collaging paper to create gradient silhouette portraits.
