Rensselaer County Dept for Aging - HIICAP Volunteer Recruitment

This is an event to provide information and recruit potential volunteers for Rensselaer County's Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance Program (HIICAP). This is a mostly volunteer based program which counsels Medicare Beneficiaries of their options. There has been a hefty surge in the need for counselors within our county throughout the last couple years. People interested in volunteering can come and speak with the program coordinator along with current volunteers. Interested people will have the chance to learn more about the program and possibly even apply for a volunteer position. Once selected, approved volunteers can do training at their own pace via an online portal, they will also shadow active counselors until they feel comfortable in their abilities. Once they are trained and confident in their abilities they will have the flexibility to make their own schedule and counsel in areas that are currently underserved.
