Program Description

Description

Three group sessions focus on how two key women poets grapple with the age old problem of our relationship with the nature/God, earth/paradise, or alternatively, the life we live and love and the life beyond us.

We will focus on two major poets; Emily Dickinson and the contemporary highly regarded Louise Glück, with sidesteps to Sylvia Plath and Elisabeth Bishop. Dickinson's struggle with the Death, Immortality, and nature dilemma and Glück’s attempts to reconcile her love of the natural world with the demands of a severe patriarchal Deity will be covered.

The sessions will be led by Kevin McCann, former Columbia High Teacher. Please register as space is limited. Registration will begin on April 4.
