Program Description

Description

Today’s baby boomers can expect to live longer in their retirement years due to rapid advances in science, medicine and technology. As a result, increased concerns over longevity are causing a major paradigm shift in how people view the concept of retirement.

Of recent concern, is the timing of when to claim one’s Social Security retirement income benefits? Once a simple decision, now requires advanced planning and a well-coordinated financial strategy. For many retirees and their spouses, taking the time to properly evaluate this important decision can be a major step toward a more secure retirement. However, navigating through a myriad of unfamiliar terminology and trying to decipher numerous claiming options has proven to be a stumbling block for many people often resulting in missed Social Security payments.

“Planning Your Social Security Retirement Income Strategy” is an approximately (1) hour information program that’s presented in an easy to understand format and concludes with a brief Q&A session. The program goal is designed to help attendees (ages 55+) make a more informed decision before choosing when to claim their Social Security benefits.

Topics covered include:

·         How much money can one earn before being penalized?

·         What do the “New Rules” mean for those born after January 1, 1954?

·         Understanding the difference between worker, spousal and survivor benefits?

·         When is the best time to collect benefits?

·         Where can one get help to make an informed claiming decision?

Seating is limited and advanced registration is required. Registration begins April 14.
