Description
Join Gina Jack, director of Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, for an overview of the site, including its history as a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in the 1930s and a state game farm through the mid-1900s. Today, the 450-acre property boasts 10 miles of walking trails meandering through field, forest and wetland. These habitats support a wide array of wildlife, including white tail deer, beaver, snapping and painted turtles, and more than 200 species of birds. A new visitor center, opened to the public in June 2017, features green building design and interactive interpretive exhibits. Located just outside of Delmar, Five Rivers is operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
