Living and Working Abroad (It’s not so scary)

Newlywed John Johnson flew to Kenya with a one-way ticket, no job, and $600 in 1976, and began an adventure that hasn’t stopped. He has lived in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and worked in 50 countries.

What did he learn? The world is not so scary, and there’s more kindness, friendship, and fun than you expect.

Join us November 14 at 6 PM for an entertaining talk about international careers, touristy mishaps, impromptu Zumba sessions with his staff in Indonesia, cultural misunderstandings, and multiple embarrassing moments. But mostly, you’ll hear of more companionship, generosity, and camaraderie than you may expect.

John (PhD, political science) was a diplomat, teacher, implemented foreign assistance programs, and consulted and trained for the World Bank, UN, US Government, and others.
