Description
Qigong, pronounced “chee-gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Qigong is a "mind-body" practice. It has both mental and physical components and involves the regulation of the mind, breath, and body’s movement and posture. These gentle exercises can be practiced sitting, standing or even lying down.
Since qigong involves both the mind and the body, it can be looked at as a kind of "meditation in motion." We'll explore a few kinds of meditation that work well in conjunction with qigong.
We recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothes and flat shoes to this program. We will practice while standing and sitting; no mats are needed. Please bring some water - qigong can make you thirsty!
