Program Description

Description

An atmospheric noir film, Double Indemnity is the story of an insurance representative who is seduced by a dissatisfied housewife into a scheme of insurance fraud and murder that arouses the suspicion of his colleague, a claims investigator.

Barbara Stanwyck, in one of her most celebrated performance, stars as married woman, Phyllis Dietrichson, Fred MacMurray, as skirt-hungry insurance man, Walter Neff, steps out of his typical "good guy" image. Together they flesh out the story's darkly psychotic edge. Edward G. Robinson steals the scenes as the claims investigator.
