Program Description

Description

We will look at herbs that can be used for winter health including their folklore and how they were used by our ancestors.  Herb history includes many traditional, medicinal, historical, and downright shocking uses! We’ll also go over how to grow or find these low-maintenance herbs, ways to use them, and simple recipes for your own health and wellness this winter.  There will be a sampling of easy-to-make recipes and you’ll receive a handout with these and more recipes, how to make simple herbal remedies, and resources to get started.

Janis Fallon is an environmental attorney, engineer, herbalist, and a Rensselaer County Master Gardener trainee.  Her lifelong passion for working with the plants has included several 10-month intensive herbal apprenticeships with Rosemary Gladstar in northern Vermont, continuing plant and herbal education, and decades of growing, fun herbal projects and making remedies for friends and family.

The Garden Club meeting begins at 6:00, the program begins at 6:30.
