Program Description

Description

A hand fan can be functional, ceremonial, a fashion statement, a means of advertising, and a way to communicate. Dr. Abbey Block Cash has been collecting hand fans for over 35 years. She will display a selection of her extensive and eclectic collection that consists of fans from 1690 to the present. Abbey consults and provides evaluations for institutions such as The Museum of the City of New York and Ventforth Hall in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Dr. Abbey Block Cash is a retired professor of elementary and secondary education at SUNY New Paltz. She is a Master Gardener for Cornell’s Columbia Extension in Hudson. Abbey is the immediate past president of FANA/Fan Association of North America. For more information on FANA go to Fan Association of North America

You are welcome to bring in your own fans. Abbey will be happy to answer your questions.
